THE GUAKAMAYO NEEDS YOUR HELP TO STAY AFLOAT

Since 2015, the Guakamayo sailboat has been prepared to be turned into a music studio, with the final aim to travel to Africa, and from there, to cross the Antlantic en route to the Caribbean, replicating the trail of the ‘slaves’ and following the ‘path of the drums’. By following the ‘path of the drums’, the Guakamayo will invite local musicians at every stop, (Senegal, Cuba, Jamaica, Haiti, República Dominicana, Puerto Rico, Antillas Francesas, Venezuela, Colombia, Panamá…), to record in its studio, with the intention to produce a series of albums and documentaries about the journey.

THE SAILBOAT/STUDIO, A PROJECT FROM MUSICIAN SARGENTO GARCIA

(Recognised internationally for its fusion of caribbean sounds) The Guakamyo is today underwater due to the devastating blow of storm Gloria, that whipped the Spanish Mediterranean Coast with winds of almost 140 m/h, bringing about waves of more than 8 meters of altitude, a new record set for the area.

After years of reparation work to turn the Guakamayo into a recording studio, the project was 85% completed, almost ready to start the navigation tests. THE GUAKAMAYO SINKS, BUT NOT THE PROJECT. Still shaken up by this terrible event, we firmly maintain our objective, even if this means we will have to go backwards in order to continue forward. BUT WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO IT ON OUR OWN, WE NEED YOU TO HELP US BY DONATING. All donations will be of great help in this moment.

This difficult circumstance will test us. Even if our heart is broken, the dream still is intact. We thank all your messages of support, the good energy that is being sent from all sides of the world, and the love that we have for this project gives us the strength to continue and confront the enormous amount of work that is to come. Your donations will give us the tools to reach our aim.

THANK YOU FOR HELPING US SAVE THE GUAKAMAYO!
